Biography

Dr. Joy Bracewell earned her Ph.D. in English from the University of Georgia.  In addition to being the Director of the Writing Center, she teaches composition and first-year composition practices.

Adrienne Cook

Biography

Adrienne Cook (she/they) is a first-year English MA student. She is from Lawrenceville, Georgia. Although she is most well-versed in MLA format, she will be glad to help you with MLA, Chicago, APA, or anything else you may need. She has experience as a Teaching Assistant for ENGL 1101 at Georgia College, as well as in writing for academic contexts. Adrienne takes a particular interest in literature, film, and pop culture. Her hobbies are watching movies, writing, drawing, and crafts.

Amanda Demirović (she/her/hers) is a first-year MFA fiction student. She is from Bihac, Bosnia. Amanda hopes to one day teach college English. She is excited to assist students with MLA, APA, and anything else you may need. Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband Ben, and six fur babies, Olive, Josie, Calvin, Lucy, Halima, and Rudy.

Biography

Aubrei Perkins (she/her) is a second-year English MA student. She is from Jesup, GA. She received a B.A. in Art and a B.A. in Writing & Linguistics from Georgia Southern University, where she also worked as a Writing Tutor in the Georgia Southern Writing Center. She taught 6th Grade ELA before coming to Georgia College. In her free time, she enjoys creating digital art, writing fiction and poetry, doing embroidery, and reading. She can help you brainstorm, research, and polish your drafts, and she is especially well-versed in MLA, APA, and Chicago (CMOS) formatting.

Biography

Bridget Mainor (she/her) is a junior with double majors in psychology and philosophy. She is a member of the Honors College, participates in the social research lab on campus, and is the captain of GCSU’s club ultimate frisbee team. Bridget was born in Savannah, Ga where she lives with her mom, sister, and dog. In her free time, Bridget enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, ceramics, and daydreaming in coffee shops. She loves writing and sharing her passion to help others become more comfortable with the writing process! She can help with any part of the writing process- from brainstorming to polishing final drafts! She would be happy to help you with any paper, and is especially comfortable with psychology papers, philosophy papers, and English papers! She hopes to see you soon:)

Biography

Cat Wall (she/her) is a senior English major with a minor in Spanish Language and Culture. She is a part of the Honors College here at Georgia College. She hopes to apply to Law School after completing her undergraduate degree and pursue either criminal or business law. Outside of the Writing Center, she enjoys reading, painting, Spotify, and spending time with her pets and family back in Woodstock. She has always had a love for writing since she was young and wishes to help anyone with whatever they need to produce a successful paper with any part of the writing process. She is familiar with MLA format but has experience with APA and Chicago Style and is willing to help in any way she can. She hopes she can help others grow to love writing and become more enthusiastic about it.

Daniel Hastings

Biography

Daniel Hastings (he/him/his) is a first-year Biology MS student from Lawrenceville, GA. Before entering the graduate program, he completed his BS degree in Biology with a minor in English. After graduating, he plans on working either as an industrial geneticist/microbiologist or as an instructor at a higher education institute. He is most familiar with APA and MLA citation styles, but is highly adaptable to most journals’ formatting, especially in the science department. Outside of the Writing Center, Daniel is involved in many English organizations, including the Film Club and Shakespearean Circle, in addition to enjoying a variety of classic novels, music on vinyl, and performing experimental music with his band on campus. He is determined to provide help for all who need improvement/polishing of their writing skills, especially with scientific and literary essays.

Biography

Eriana Kellis (she/her) is a first-year MFA student with a concentration in creative nonfiction. Originally from Athens, Greece, Eriana most recently lived in Oxford, UK and Granada, Spain before moving to Milledgeville. When she is not reading or writing, you can find her drinking tea, listening to music, and chatting with her friends. At the Writing Center, Eriana can help you with organization, brainstorming, surface-level errors, revision, and any creative pieces in both Spanish and English.

Jacob Pritchett

Biography

Jacob Pritchett (he/him/his) is a first year MFA fiction student. He is from Montgomery, Alabama and attained his bachelor’s degree in creative writing with a minor in political science from Berry College in Rome, Ga. He is well versed in helping with organization, brainstorming, formatting, and line editing. When he isn’t writing or reading, you can find him running D&D sessions, hiking, or whitewater kayaking.

James Parker (he/they) is a first-year MFA poetry student. He is originally from Florence, South Carolina where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in History-Education. Their main research and writing interests include Queer Studies, death and dying, and film analysis. After graduation, they plan on returning to South Carolina to teach high school English and continue to help students hone their craft in writing.

Julia Olteanu (She/Her) is a second-year student in middle-grade education with a concentration in Social Studies. Aspiring to further her education by getting a master's in teaching and a certification to become a high school teacher. In and out of college Julia has worked with students of all ages as an Art Teacher and is a hands-on person who continues to work until the job is done. Julia loves to relax with music and throw on a pottery wheel. She also loves to watch movies, color, and socialize with everyone. She is familiar with MLA formatting and APA formatting. However, Julia is open to learning new styles and ways of writing and hopes that she can give students confidence in their writing.

Luke Circle (he/him/his) is a first year MA English student. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Education from MGA. He wants to continue his education in English to become a college professor. His love for writing led him to his position at the writing center and is excited to help others in their writing process. Luke enjoys all things that involve stories including books, comics, movies, shows, video games, and music.

Macy Ellis (she/her) is a first-year MFA fiction student. She is from Minnesota and holds a BA in English. She additionally studied art and books arts as an undergraduate. Macy enjoys being a creative writer and wants to pursue that along with her interests in publishing and art after graduation. She is most well-versed in MLA and creative writing but is happy to help anyone with whatever they need, in any subject, whether that’s brainstorming, drafting, revision, or anything else.

Biography

Morgan Gosdin (she/her) is a senior with double majors in psychology and Spanish and a minor in LACLS. She is also a member of the Honors College, serves as president of the GCSU psychology club, works as a Learning Center facilitator, tutors Spanish, and participates in the cognitive research lab on campus. Upon graduation, she plans to attend graduate school to earn her master’s degree and become a mental health counselor. Morgan was born in Canton, Georgia and spent a portion of her childhood in the Dominican Republic (and would be happy to look over Spanish papers as well as English ones)! She now lives in Canton with her family and dog. When she is not in the Writing Center, Morgan loves spending time in campus ministry, baking something new, and cheering on the Braves. She enjoys writing and can help with any part of the writing process—from brainstorming to drafting to revising. She would be happy to walk through any kind of writing assignment with you and is particularly experienced in Spanish papers, nursing papers, and research projects (especially anything psychology related)!

Sunita Oliver (she/her) is a second-year nursing student here at GCSU. She hopes to join the nursing cohort next year and eventually use that degree to become a geriatric and/or hospice nurse and take care of senior citizens especially those with memory issues. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering throughout the community like at the retirement home and veterans' home. Outside of school and extracurricular activities, Sunita likes to read, go to the theater, play tennis, and skateboard. She is passionate about classic literature and history. Sunita has the most experience writing research papers in APA format. In the writing center, Sunita hopes to help students find their writing style and grow their confidence in writing.

Biography

Tess Conner (they/she) is a first-year MFA poetry student. They are from Augusta, GA and earned a BS in Literature, Media, and Communications from Georgia Tech in 2023. They spent the last year working as a tutor in a middle school in Connecticut. Tess is experienced in assisting with every part of the writing process, from brainstorming to final touch ups. They are happy to help with any genre of writing, but they particularly love working on analysis, argumentative essays, and personal narratives.

Biography

Ziv Moench (she/her) is a senior environmental science major with a minor in biology. She plans to pursue a masters in bioeducation and teach at the high school level. She is a part of the GCSU Herpetology Lab, where she is working on an individual project actively presented at conferences. Other than the sciences, they are very driven in exercise, writing, the outdoors, and everything pertaining to animals/wildlife. They can help students with a variety of paper topics, as well as assist in the writing process from general brainstorming to revising. Due to being a STEM major, they have strengths in scientific-based writing, such as research papers, lab reports, APA formatting, etc. With the addition of MURACE to the Writing Center, they are also able to relate to the anxiety surrounding conferences and assist students in the process. Overall, Ziv hopes to inspire others to become more comfortable with the writing process. Sometimes, STEM-based papers can be intimidating, and they are here to tackle it with you!
